Setúbal District sits just south of Lisbon, with a mild Mediterranean climate and sunny summers that warm to the mid-80s F (around 30 C). It's famous for its Arrábida Natural Park, where white limestone cliffs plunge into clear blue Atlantic coves, and for the fried codfish balls called bolinhos de bacalhau. In summer you can swim at Portinho da Arrábida beach or kayak along the Sado River estuary, while in winter you can hike the park's trails and taste the region's red wines at local vineyards.
